Charity ride raises over 3k for Blind in Business
Award winning Chef Sebastian Snow embarked on the gruelling cycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End, a distance of over 1000 miles, in a bid to raise £3000 for Blind in Business.
Sebastian was motivated to undertake this cycle after his nephew, Marcus Emmet, lost his sight in one eye and who has subsequently suffered deteriorating sight in the other.
Sebastian is no stranger to undertaking difficult challenges for causes he believes in, yet after trekking the Sahara and cycling across Death Valley he said that trip “will be my hardest challenge”. The trip took a total of 9 days, averaging some 111 miles per day.
We would like to congratulate Sebastian on his fantastic effort and extend our warmest thanks in putting so much effort into raising such a significant amount for us”

Blind in Business is a charity which operates across the United Kingdom. We help blind and partially sighted students into work through our training and employment services. We encourage blind and partially sighted people to identify and achieve their ambitions.
All of our services are free to students.
Our employment services support A-Level students, undergraduates and graduates with their transition from education to employment.
We have 17 years experience of the recruitment process and extensive knowledge of the needs of partially sighted and blind candidates.
We work with employers to help them manage the recruitment of partially sighted and blind people.
Our training services work with blind school children, their parents and teachers to raise their career aspirations.
We run training days in schools across the UK working with over 1000 school children annually.
We provide additional support for blind children through our mentoring service.
Alumni
Blind in Business are supported in their work by our alumni – blind people we have previously helped into work. They attend our training courses and employment and talk to employers and the young blind people with whom we work about their experiences. They offer advice about specialist technology, employment and social activities.
Hetal came to Blind in Business in 2007 having graduated from Westminster University with a degree is journalism. We helped her into a work experience placement at Sightsavers International before helping into a fulltime position at Transport For London. She has worked with us to develop our Dress for Success event – ten blind female under-graduates are given free makeup and styling advice supplemented with presentation skills advice and Mentoring.
Ray Chan has been working with Blind in Business for over a decade. He was one the first blind graduates we helped into work. He is currently a Training Manager at the Victoria & Albert Museum. He comes to schools, universities and VI Services across the United Kingdom to talk to young blind people about how they can get a job and talk to their parents about how they can support their children in their career ambitions.
